------------------------------------------------------------------------
1. MWAM08 WRAP-UP

The inaugural MidWest Astrochemistry Meeting was a smashing success,
with over 60 people attending from 11 different institutions
across Illinois, Michigan, Missouri, Ohio, and Wisconsin. The 15 talks
and 17 posters spanned the wide range of research fields that comprises
astrochemistry, ranging from theory to experiment to observation. The
website (see below) now contains candid photos and presentation files
for most of the talks, for those who missed the meeting or want to
reflect back. We look forward to MWAM09 this fall!

------------------------------------------------------------------------
2. CONSORTIUM WEBSITE http://midwest.astrochem.us

Our consortium now has a permanent online home, at
http://midwest.astrochem.us. At this URL you can now find the
consortium's mission statement, all of the information from MWAM08, and
links to some web-based tools intended to enhance connectivity between
members of the consortium despite geographical separation.

------------------------------------------------------------------------
3. DISCUSSION BOARD & ACCOUNTS

By clicking on the "Discussion Board" link, you will be redirected to a
phpBB3 bulletin board which is intended to serve as a center for
discussion of MWAC activities. Please take a moment to visit this link,
and click the "REGISTER" link to sign up for an account.

------------------------------------------------------------------------
4. MEMBER DIRECTORY & WIKI

By clicking on the "Resources" link off http://midwest.astrochem.us,
you'll find a Wiki that will allow our consortium to collaboratively
develop web content. Once your phpBB3 account is activated, you will
also be able to log into the wiki. Right now, the major content is the
MemberDirectory. Please take a moment to add your university and group
information to the directory by clicking the "edit" tab at the top of
the directory.

------------------------------------------------------------------------
5. HELP PLAN THE FUTURE OF MWAC!

If you are interested in helping to plan future MWAC activities,
please check out the "Activities Planning & Discussion" forum on the
discussion board. There you will find a summary of the brainstorming
session held at the end of MWAM08. Please add new topics or post
replies to discuss potential activities, or even better to volunteer to
organize new activities for the consortium. Everyone is free to share
all their opinions here.

------------------------------------------------------------------------
6. MWAM09 PLANNING

While you're on the discussion board, please also take a look at the
MWAM09 forum. We are thinking of October or November for the next
meeting, and would very much like your input on what dates won't work
for you due to meetings and other commitments.

------------------------------------------------------------------------
7. HARVEY LISZT WEBINAR, APRIL 28

As part of the Astrochemistry Seminar series at Illinois, Dr. Harvey
Liszt of NRAO will be giving a talk at 4pm CDT on April 28th, entitled
"Looking at diffuse clouds from both sides, now." We plan to provide a
live web stream of his seminar to MWAC members and other interested
parties, and we will encourage questions from remote audience members.
Please save the time/date on your calendar, and stay tuned to the
"Webinars" forum on the discussion board for connection information. If
this "webinar" format is popular, we will try to do this for future
astrochemistry seminars at Illinois, and we encourage members at other
institutions to do the same.

------------------------------------------------------------------------
