1. MIDWEST ASTROCHEMISTRY CONSORTIUM ORGANIZATION

At the executive session of MWAM09, we developed an organizational
structure to help guide the consortium during its formative years. Ben
McCall (bjmccall@illinois.edu) will serve as the Chair, and will act as
spokesperson and overall coordinator for the consortium. Dave Woon
(davidewoon@gmail.com) will serve as Vice-Chair, the duties of which
include serving as chair of the MWAM SOC and succeeding the Chair.
Rainer Glaser (GlaserR@missouri.edu) is serving as Membership Secretary,
and will compile/maintain our membership directory, maintain the mailing
list, and seek out new members. Finally, Nick Abel (npabel2@gmail.com)
is coordinating our Facebook page. If you are interested in taking a
leadership role in any area of the Consortium's activities, please email
Ben.

------------------------------------------------------------------------
2. MIDWEST ASTROCHEMISTRY MEETING -- 2009 WRAP-UP and 2010 ORGANIZATION

The 2009 Midwest Astrochemistry Meeting was another great success, with
nearly 60 people in attendance. There were 18 posters and a total of 11
invited and contributed talks. Pictures from the MWAM09 poster session
have been uploaded and can be reached from a link on the meeting's
webpage: http://midwest.astrochemistry.us/MWAM09/

The 2010 Midwest Astrochemistry Meeting will be held 5-6 November in
Urbana. Please reserve the date on your schedule. The webpage for MWAM10
is up: http://midwest.astrochemistry.us/MWAM10/

Planning for the meeting is underway. This year's invited speaker is
Prof. Ralf Kaiser of the University of Hawaii at Manoa. We are looking
for 3-5 people to serve on the Scientific Organizing Committee. As part
of ensuring that the scientific content of the meeting represents the
diversity of astrochemical research in the Midwest, one responsibility
of the SOC will be contacting people in the region who have not yet
participated in consortium activities and encouraging them to attend
MWAM10 and bring their group members. If you would like to volunteer to
serve on this year's SOC, please email Dave Woon (davidewoon@gmail.com)
by MAY 1ST.

------------------------------------------------------------------------
3. MEMBERSHIP DATA REQUESTED

Rainer Glaser (GlaserR@missouri.edu) is compiling information on the
members of the Consortium [name, affiliation, contact info, areas of
interest, etc.] in order to prepare a web-based membership directory.
If you did not complete an information form at MWAM09, please email
Rainer directly with your contact information. Also, if any of your
colleagues or students should be included in the consortium, please
relay their information to Rainer as well.

4. FACEBOOK PAGE LAUNCHED

Thanks to the efforts of Nick Abel (npabel2@gmail.com), the Consortium
has taken the leap into the world of social networking. Please visit
the site at http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=199209043906 and join
the group! Right now, the page is still under construction, but if you
have suggestions for improvement, please email Nick.
